The quiet before the Dawn

The only two sounds I heard on this morning were the wind blowing and the Great Horned Owls hooting in the valley's below me

Sunrise

I made a point of arriving at the Badlands just before sunrise. I have seen many landscapes over the years, but there was something about this one that stayed with me.

Surprise

I did not expect to see bighorn Sheep in the Badlands, and I was taken off guard by these guys. I had to quickly get my gear out and set up before the sheep dashed down into the valley below me.

Sunset

The colors and contrast of the landscape at sunrise and sunset were amazing. I loved the cool color of the rocks and the warmth of the cloud still gathering light from the setting sun.

After the sun had set

On my way back to camp after the sun had set but before the night had taken over. I still had enough light to capture this shot of some of the rock formations I passed by on the way to camp. It was pretty windy so doing a long exposure proved to be tricky so as not to have too much motion in the grass.

Moon on the Horizon

One of the things I really like about the Badlands was the 360 degree landscape views. It seemed every where you looked there was another interesting sight.
